Eddie’s Corner: Japanese Stiltgrass Invades Lawns

Japanese StiltgrassI have been getting a lot of calls about a weed that is taking over the county. I too have seen the weed and it seems to be everywhere in Gilmer County. The weed is called Japanese stiltgrass, also known as annual jewgrass.

It’s commonly found in shady, moist areas and it spreads rapidly in woodlands as well as shaded landscapes and low-maintenance turf throughout the southeastern U.S.  Continue reading
